82Whitey51
Well, he said he was going to do it. Good for him. He nearly ran outta fuel judging from the pic.

echolmberg
I knew it was a gyrocopter but the media outlets I was listening to yesterday kept calling it a "small helicopter". Gotta love that media accuracy. Eric

Exhausted
This is news for the country, but is this news in Florida?
streetstream
I love how the republican claims they would have shot it down if it got any closer. How close does it have to get?
ikar
Republican claims? I thought it was the Secret Service that said that. Besides they were given plenty of notice before the fact from the pilot and that day from a friend of his. Any way, the guy lives south of here in Kississimmee. Just another FLori-da. Exhausted
I love how the republican claims they would have shot it down if it got any closer. How close does it have to get? They always say that, but it's just the typical talk. I don't see why shooting a protester down would have been a good idea. The guy made his plan public and a newspaper was running the story while he was still in the air.
otis252
Well, that's about right. It took just 7 post to blame or disparage a "Republican". After all, that's just "typical talk". Hey, probably one of those 2nd Amendment "gun nuts". Shaking my head. Chuck

Hey, probably one of those 2nd Amendment "gun nuts". Shaking my head. Chuck I'm sure he didn't mean it that way. He's from Belgium and European Union policy often supersedes national debate. For example, on entry to the EU a country must meet a list of 31 basic demands such as democratization, open borders, surrender of war criminals and economic agreement (such as Latvia being delegated to bail Greece out just one day after joining the EU). I would also like to point out that gun lobbies and Republicans aren't always the same. Richard Nixon and George Bush both renounced their lifetime memberships to the NRA over its transition from an advocacy group to a focused political lobby lead by some people who don't even shoot. I would be very careful grouping the biggest face of 2nd Amendment rights with the Republican party, especially since membership the largest 2nd Amendment group accounts for less than 10% of gun owners in the United States. From an outsider's point of view, he sees a loud group of people (including some high profile Liberals) that want to shoot the intruders, whether or not danger is perceived or not, yet never have. streetstream
Actually, my comment about the republican was because a republican was quoted in the video. For some reason the video isn't showing anymore, but yesterday the newsvideo quoted him.
streetstream
I just looked it up and the person who made the quote was Michael McCaul who is a Republican. In the future i'll try to remember the name and not mention the fact he or she is Democrat or Republican. My apologize. Edited April 17, 2015 by streetstream
streetstream
Also, iwould like to point out that my comment was made i reaction that a "plane" can come up to 100 meters of the Capitol and not be shot, but this person claims it would have been shot at if it came closer. I was surprised to see how little the safetymargin was for them to deside to shoot. I would have been less suprised if they shot at it sooner, be it warning shots. So the statement mzde by wmichael McCaul seem to be nonsense to me. I think they were caught offguard.
ikar
I just got the correct information today about the pilot's city of origin. It was Tampa, not Kississimmee. They started up here with the wrong town and I finally heard it at work. I sit corrected.
