Well, over the weekend I cleaned all the antennas and added them, then ARF probe, Chaff dispensers and flaps. Also gave it a good coat of Tamiya Glossy Clear to prepare kit for decals. both nozzle and the hole on top of the fuselage has been painted with ACLAD II pale burn metal. Paolo Maglio Posted May 20, 2015 Author Share Posted May 20, 2015 Since Sidewinders were not used over Afganistan I'm not going to add missiles to rails and need to paint the sides of rails with Zinch Crhomate primer... I found that one clear red light for the lower fuselage is missing, Kinetic give it in gray plastic, mind to paint it red or replace with a clear part, it is just behind the front landing gear Quote Link to post Share on other sites
Paolo Maglio Posted May 20, 2015 Author Share Posted May 20, 2015 as I said dimensions of the kit are almost spot on and it really looks like a Ghibli. only main tyres would need replacement with some with a larger wheel and smaller tyre. Paolo Maglio Posted May 25, 2015 Author Share Posted May 25, 2015 Thank you all, will correct position of lights (thank you Drake!) and cheange the black canopy border to gray Decals went on perfectly without any problem, actually I was worried about the large numbers for the nose since the come with large carrier film and the nose is conical, but they conformed perfectly and film is invisible. My only suggestion (as per all newly printed Cartograf decals) is: use only Micro set (blue label)with wet decals. Micro SOL can be added only on dry decals and most of them will not need it at all If you add Micro SOL too soon decals coul wrap badly. Soon for more pics and due corrections! Caracal already offers 1 Special Colour and 1 Special Tail. Both very interesting. From what I have seen so far The HB will be suitable for earlier aiframes only and there are more mistakes. For my first sheet, I chose relatively plain commemorative markings and regular service jets; because I did not have a test shot or sample kit to work with (I did not have much luck with getting Kinetic to cooperate with me, despite my various decals having helped sell many of their kits like the Reaper, Greyhound or Goshawks). Many of these schemes have shape-specific elements and require access to the actual kit. Now that the actual kit is accessible to anyone, I am sure more commemorative schemes are in the works - I am working on several.
