I will give this a try. I started this back in 2013 while living in

Massachusetts. I quit my job and moved to sunny Fl to work a few years

and retire. Not all my modelling stuff made it here. The Revell C-130

kit did not but the Aeroclub white metal engine parts and props did.

I purchased a new old 1/144 Revell C-130 and earlier this year started it.

It fell to the wayside so I could finish a Revell F9F-8, Revell F-82 and

a '32 Ford 5 window coupe and Tommy Ivo dragster. So I am close enough to

finishing this that I can do it Tired of never getting anything done on time.

BTW I never did get a full time job, a couple part time ones I have quit and

am now officially retired. Here's my entry---John

All that is left to do is the landing gear, scratch new one piece nose

gear door, props, paint and decal. I live on the approach to Clearwater-St Pete

airport which is where the USCG air station is, the Herks buzz my home

every few days, great inspiration, along with my older brother was a

Herk maintainer at Forbes back in the early 70s.---John

Made nose door and framing, .015 sheet plastic and stretched sprue.

It came out OK for 1/144 scale. Now I have to mask and paint gray

wing and fuselage walks. I still haven't figured how to attach these

wonky looking props. No shaft, guess I can do the paper clip trick.---John

I masked and painted the wing walks, a bit dark but it'll do. I don't

have lots of time. The areas that look like the paint crept under the mask

is actually pencil marks I used to line up the masking tape. The wheels are

also painted and I filed and sanded the rough spots off the cast props.---John

Nice progress John, I certainly like painting props (not!). I Note depending on operator that the prop tips have colours in different order. My RAF C-130 has red /white/red white yours are white/red//white.

The baseballs are foam, I was looking for foam to stick tooth picks in

and spotted a couple of these from Manatees game, for the grandkids.

I masked, painted white and unmasked to do touch up. I still need to paint

the window frames, nose and mask and paint orange areas on the tail and wings.---John

Exhaust area under the wings and behind jet exhaust have been painted. Where do

I get solid color decal film. Instead of painting the triangular and rectangular

areas on the wing and tails I was thinking to save time and masking cutting them

out of decal sheet material. Who makes these? Thanks---John

I just tried the decals and they broke up into pieces, too old and brittle.

Does anyone know if there are any aftermarket decals, maybe Draw Decals for

1/144 USCG C-130?---John

I have the prop shafts made. I cut up a paper clip.I am hoping to find a

set of replacement decals. I have the "feelers" out. I really don't want

to have to send half way round the world and pay double for the decals

when the kit was not that expensive, hopefully I can find a more recent

set of Revell decals in good shape or better yet the Minicraft ones.---John

I found some decals thanks to a fellow modeller. They should be in early

next week, the Minicraft ones which the color is off a bit, the orange

markings are more like red but this is NOT a contestant in a model show,

just want to get it done, been collecting dust way too long.---John

Donor decals from Minicraft kit came in today. I have it about 3/4

decaled. A few more decals, some touch up paint, antenna wires then

add props and it's done. Should be finished early next week.---John
