you are aware that most of the D models were rebuilt A models right? there is little to no shape difference in the basic airframe

Yes but what do you think rebuilt means? Different engines mean slight changes and the a$$ ends are not the same.....

P.S. I think the kit looks a little off too but don't really care

i can only hope for AMK’s sake these are somehow old photos.

That F-14 test shot is simply awful from the wing back..i hope for them they just go buy a Tamiya one and copy its rear end shape as this think looks terrible.

sure whatever you say

Look at your own Tamiya builds..the section in front of the nozzles and the fairings are different and they used different parts for a reason.....

yes but... not the area where the stabilator attaches. ahead of the engine shroud. that is the area everyone has been talking about.

That's part of it but people were also taking about the curve of the stabilizer and where it meets that fairing and curves into the nozzle is bad too

believe whatever you want. the AIRFRAME is the same. the engine shroud is a replaceable part. the area forward of it is PRIMARY STRUCTURE. the shape of that area is the same whether it is a D or an A.

Everybody has been concentrating on the rear area which I agree has problems. Has anybody paid attention to the rest of the kit?

I'm wondering about the nose, especially the IFR door position. I lack F-14 reference or time to search, but does anybody have a pic from a similar angle as the one posted?

The purple line is on a F14A drawing so it is wrong regardless.......why do people keep posting F14A drawings and photos?  Not actually commenting on the kit as I don't even build 1/48 but how do you prove a point by posting the wrong material.....

Chris you may be correct. In the real thing the door appears parallel to the longitudinal axis of the jet. If anyone has some references it would help clear that issue.

There's this famous photo of F-14Bs of VF-32, configured to deal with the iron maiden:

US_Navy_030408-N-7986B-005_F-14_Tomcat_a

2 things:

- yes, the IFR doors are parallel with the longitudinal axis of the plane.

- if you look both photos in max resolution, AMK tomcat have heavy panel lines on the nose which are varely visible on the real plane on max res photos.

Looking at the first picture and following the panel line just below the wing bags backwards it looks ok...Towards the exausts it looks like some rather heavy sanding was done. Is there anybody in Telford who can get to that model and take better pictures without all the shadows? Also it would be nice to hear if the model on show is made from an/the injection mold or maybe just a sanded down 3D print? A couple of pages back there was a picture of the upper fuselage part before the wing bags were put on and without that primer cover...there I think the curve looked ok.

@AMK...if you really have a model already, why not sending test samples to people like Brian from "Fightettown" , Darren Roberts or Brett Green from Hyperscale to review it?

thanks

Uwe

The canopy also seems to miss the dent between the pilot and rio part. Might be because of the angles of the pictures but judging by the other shape errors...

Four years of development for this is really disapointing. Guess AMKs rival will be the Hobby Boss kit, this wont even touch Tamiya at the moment.

Are these pictures really confirmed to be from Telford though?

Either the probe bay or nose cone are off by several millimeters.

All I’ll say is that if this is what AMK will ship out as the final, production kit then I’m sorry, they missed the mark enormously here.  If not, then I think at this point, for their own benefit, they should really try to show the kit as is in its current state.

Yes, people will still buy it regardless...but how many?  I purchased a total of 16 Tamiya Tomcats.  Please tell me AMK, why would I chose you over Tamiya at this point?  The deployed wings aren’t enough anymore at  this stage...

the forward panel is not installed on the AMK kit making the probe bay look incorrect. comparing it to the pics above I think it looks right

Qué? Sixteen?!  Surely there's room for a couple of AMKs just for the wings, decals and stores?

I'm sticking to my Trumpeter-Zacto 1/32 beast and hoping Tamiya will see fit to issue a 1/32 new tool Tomcat. If not, I might succumb to a couple of 1/48 Tamiya F-14As as they really look the part.

Frankly, I'd rather AMK focused more on the Eastern European jets which they do so well: c'mon, we need 1/48 AMK Flagons if GWH don't beat them to it, the way ICM beat them with the Foxbats and Tamiya with the Tomcats.

Nothing a few sanding sticks can't fix👍

How?

These reinforcement plates aren't one profile extrusion, but several profiles extrusions one on another.

Reason why Furball provided a PE rendition, with 3 layers.
