jollyrogerf14
Hi fellas, Got another Jolly Rogers pic I found while sifting through the National Archives web site. Never seen this one before! Early Lo-Viz with the Dk Grey squadron Markings (AJ & Small Bones) on the Outside of the Vertical Stabs, but no Chevrons/Stripes under the canopy. The odd thing to me is the Lt Grey National Insignia, NAVY, Modex Numbers and "VF-84" on the Ventral Fins underneath! Maybe some of you guys have seen this one before, BUT it's new to me!! It's a beautiful pic of a launch! V.C.

Check Six
I've seen so many in person as well as in pics that I don't remember if I've seen that one before or not. Either way; Awesome pic and thanks for sharing !
sundowner
Could this Jolly Rogers Tomcat be a former VF-41 Tomcat ?? I seem to remember to have seen a slide of a F-14A ( former VF-41 ) which was turned over to VF-84 , no markings on the tail , however I cannot find the slide / photo anywhere . Brian P: Fightertown Decals
Looks like mostly 35237 medium gray with 36375 LGG markings. And 36081 or black markings on he tail and intake. Could've been temporary or a test scheme in the 80's.
cag_200
Its the period (1983-87) where CVW8 aboard USSNIMITZ used the tone down scheme, lo-vis. All aircraft where stripped from their hi-vis markings for test/evaluation. After this CVW8 moved to USS Theodore Roosevelt where modex -00 aircraft returned in their colorful markings again. EagleAviation
The last photo is an excellent motive for a diorama!
