rightwinger26
Let's see those builds, some minor work is ok to start.
rightwinger26
Here is my addition to the fleet, we need a big Capital ship to build around! Academy's HMS Warspite premium edition. This looks like a fantastic kit, it comes with etch wood decks, a ton of PE, and turned brass barrels. Construction will start tomorrow! john53
Just ordered this today, should be in early next week. A HobbyBoss 1/350 USS Los Angeles class submarine. I am doing it up as the Miami, SSN 755, a newer modified 688i submarine. The sad part is it was totaled out in a fire set by a workman who wanted the day off back in May 2012. I believe it was also my nephew's ride on his first tour in The Silent Service.---John Edited July 1, 2015 by john53
rightwinger26
Nice! Can't wait to see that get started!
CorsairMan
I'm in with a Dragon 1/700 USS Independence Its been about 30 years since my last ship build and that one was a klunky Revell USS Hornet with the Doolittle B-25s on the deck.
spejic
I will start the Dragon 1/700 LCS 3 USS Fort Worth. No guarantees I will finish. To my eye the Fort Worth has the most attractive paint scheme ever put on a ship. As soon as I first saw it, I knew I had to model it.

Sebastijan
I'll try to build 1:700 USS Cole - with battle damage using the Dragon kit and FlyHawk PE set. I'll try to squeeze in a sub or two if time will permit.

CorsairMan
Yes the little escort carrier. I also have a big mighty Mo and an essex class carrier in the stash but let's start small
Bigasshammm
Working on getting a kit of the Indianapolis. Thinking it'll be Academy. There's this super kit with the Japanese sub and all kinds of aftermarket but it's 140$ not sure I want to pony up that much dough. May just start simple and get some pe. By "big" Mighty Mo do you mean the trumpy 1/200th?? I have that one in the stash, but I'm working on the 200th Bismarck and don't have that much room right now. Working on getting a kit of the Indianapolis. Thinking it'll be Academy. Don't sell the Academy ships short, they are very nice kits in my opinion. Sometimes there are some inaccuracies, but they are either easy to fix, or unnoticeable unless you completely nerd out about that particular ship.....in which case you will most likely be the only on that notices. Are you going to put a 1/350 B-17 on the catapult"
dnl42
I'll be building the Niko 1/350 YMS as MSC(O)-47 USS FULMAR to honor my father's memory.
Bigasshammm
I'll be getting a 1/700 Tamiya Indianapolis next week sometime hopefully with a pe set. I will attempt not to make it look like a pile of glue and plastic.
rightwinger26
Very nice, there's always room for Indy, or your could get adventurous and modify her to be the Rolling P (sister ship, Portland). Good on you for tackling that tiny PE, I wish I could for space saving reasons. Bill Edited July 19, 2015 by rightwinger26
Bigasshammm
Received my 1/700 Tamiya Indy today along with te atoms model works pe. The kit doesn't look any worse than some of the car kits I've done but holy hell that pe is small. How do you attach the railings without getting giant glue blobs everywhere? rightwinger26
That's why I don't mess with 700th, my eyes would implode! I attach my railing, ladders, ect. with watered down elmers. I mix it 50/50 in a beer cap and use an 0/10 brush. First I get the basic shape folded, the tack one end with straight elmers, then I'll line a small portion of it up and get it to stay in place, touch the brush loaded with watered down glue along the bottom and let it wick along, when its dry, I'll mive down to the next portion. 1) you don't run the risk of a big blob of CA crossing the rails, 2) elmers drys flat so you don't have to go back over it with dull coat. Aaronw
I've been struggling for ideas and this just fell into my lap. I was in Michaels and there in the clearance rack for $11 was this old Revell kit, UDT boat with frogmen. Inside the hull it is stamped 1967 so the kit is as old as me. I have accepted this as a sign from the modeling gods, and I am in.
rightwinger26
Outstanding! Welcome aboard! Are you going to build this one up as a diorama?

Sebastijan
Well, since there's a Typhoon sub in my Cyberhobby USS Cole boxing, I'm gonna build that one as well. Should be a nice quick build, I guess :)
rightwinger26
I know I haven't posted in a bit, I've been in a slump, but I came out of it yesterday. All the railings are one the main deck of Warspite, and I've started the lower level of the main superstructure, I'll post some pre-painting pictures tonight when I get home. The display base is done too, I just need to go to the trophy store around the corner from my house an have a brass name plate made. Bill
