His collection was well known to the locals and he had put it on display many times. He even used the Panther to help move snow a few years ago during an abnormally snowy winter. It is no different than what the late Jaques Littlefield, or Paul Allen or even the Collings Foundation is doing. This feels more like a PR move than anything else on the governments side, considering how closely it follows and is related to the NAZI art case from a few months ago. ikar
I can't believe it took the German army 9 hours to get that Panther out. Why didn't they put the treads on and just drive it out, weren't the treads available? I think I read that they damaged the ank. They probably did some damage to the villa too. SERNAK
I have read about it on Yahoo. Makes you wonder what other "things" might still be hidden in cellars!!!
