phantom
Next is a Revel B-25 which I will convert into a 1950s RCAF Radar trainer for the CF-100 Canuck. Essentially all the nasty pointy things are removed and stuff is put on the insides to train the CF-100 crews. Also, I will then have a turret I can give to Elmo so he can convert what is now HIS Tamiya Lancaster into a Canadian MkX. Have two of these kits. Current plan is to do this one, then a RCAF VIP transport. Then I will take the old RCAF transport I did 10 years ago and make it into a target towing bumblebee. The traditional in the box shot, Two kits in here...... Then how it sits for today.
phantom
Very basic interior paint. Seeing as it will not be visible there is little point wasting time on extreme detail. Also, I have no idea what gear was in the back of the real thing.Only photos I have ever found of the RCAFs Mitchell's are exterior.
phantom
Together, have to go buy some plastic sheet today to cover the "gun" hole.
phantom
Found some clear plastic sheet. Which will make the next steps easier. The Astro dome is a search window from a Sea King.
phantom
Wings together, will glue them on after painting.
ALF18
Next is a Revel B-25 which I will convert into a 1950s RCAF Radar trainer for the CF-100 Canuck. Essentially all the nasty pointy things are removed and stuff is put on the insides to train the CF-100 crews. Interesting choice of subject. I wish you would simplify your explanation of how it was modified for CF-100 Radar training, though. This is a bit of a technical subject! ALF
phantom
Yep, I am just a walking Tom Clancy novel of detail!!!! Next comes the silver paint.
phantom
Hmmmm........ Looks like the red just "might" need some work.
phantom
Some paint and repairs. Almost done. This kit had some faults but its looking better, and really went together fast. Even for me.
phantom
Not too many have seen this model by the counts. Oh well its done anyway. The decals are from the spare box using Patrick Martins books for references.
Trojan Thunder
Boy, that was quick! 3 days? Turned out nice Shaun
phantom
Yep, no one here wanted to do anything yesterday. Figured it would have taken to next week. Guess not.
Kurt H.
nice work. You have any more big ones ?
phantom
Yep, another B-25. After that I am not sure I have anything left that would qualify. Unless an A-6 Intruder counts.
phantom
Thinking of doing the one in the middle again, as I used the wrong version 10 years ago. Then I will take that middle one, strip it, fix it and then paint it yellow and black to become a RCAF target tug. If I can find the serial number from the real thing. There was only a couple of them and I still have not found what the airframe numbers were. Know one was stationed in CFB Trenton in the late 50s.
AX 365
Nice work Shawn. Looks very good. Mike
ALF18
Hmmm. Low visitor count to the thread. Not surprising, considering most of us had just had our morning coffee by the time you were finished! Good work. ALF
phantom
Thanks guys. I am looking forward to the next 1 and a half. Re-do the VIP and turn the old VIP into a target tug IF I can find a serial number.
K5054NZ
Nice work Shaun! I like seeing oddball mods of well-known/used types, and this is a prime example. Fine job!
