I believe he was paired with Eli Gold. He, Ned Jarrett, and Benny Parsons were by far the best NASCAR television color commentators. I haven't watched a Nascar race in years, as I just lost interest in racing. But I do remember him as a great driver, and a great commentator. EDIT: Forgot to mention how impressive I found reading about running speeds of 194mph(ish) in 1970 when you consider even by todays speeds that's considered fast (and I know NASCAR reigns the power in today but still, that's some top notch speed for back in the day).
