Trojan Thunder
Well since I am building this one in tandem with the KC-135A I suppose I should start a new thread. I am building this one in a take off config mounted on a home made stand so there is some surgery and scratch building required. So I started to chop out the flaps Before I fully separated the surfaces from the wing I posed them to see how it would look.
Trojan Thunder
The engines are coming from a KC-135R kit The gear will be transitioning, I have extended the nose gear strut and re-positioned it in the nose well I found the width of the nose wheel track is slightly wider than the well it self, so some trimming and shaving is required I test fitted the nose wheel well in the fuselage and found the gear is a little higher that I thought, the gear doors will hide more of the wheels than I wanted, but hey that's life! 82Whitey51
Hmmmm...check the fit/assembly of the nose landing gear. They should be extending a lot more from that wheel well. So, the engines from a KC-135R kit will fit the RC-135 without any modification?! Good to hear. I plan on building one like that in the future. EDIT: Oh, never mind, I see you'll have the gear in transit...cool! Edited August 18, 2015 by 82Whitey51
AX 365
Nice work Ray. It looks like this fuselage is going together better than the one in your other project. I like what you've done so far. Keep up the good work. Mike
Kurt H.
Nice work. Cool idea with the partially retracted undercarriage.
Trojan Thunder
Thanks guys, have not had much time to do much on my builds. Hope to get back on them tonight.
Trojan Thunder
No real progress, I took these last week... i just wanted to see how it would look taped together. Next work will be to start building up the flaps and boxing up all the holes in the wings.
twhite80
Great subject! I see these guys flying around all of the time but despite being a pretty important asset you never see them modeled. I will continue to watch with interest!
AX 365
Nothing wrong with that at all. Great perspective. Mike
K5054NZ
I love your idea and execution of the retracting gear, it'll make for a very cool display. The subject's not to my taste but I'm keen to follow along anyway because the idea is so cool.
Trojan Thunder
Cheers guys, have not progressed much on this. Need to get into the right frame of mind. One good thing is that I cleared the bench of 2 builds last night so this one will get my attention again sooner.
cr7driver
Very cool idea. I hope to see more pics as you progress.
