DEROS-Date of Expected Return from OverSeas-

Recommended Posts

My short calendar is filled in and this build is complete. This is the A-27A Dragonfly. Serial # 14510. 25 of these little guys were sent to Viet Nam in 1967 under the program called "Combat Dragon".

#510 was at Chu Lai Air Base 1968 - 1971. They were used for close air support, night interdiction & forward air control.

On this picture notice that Trumpeter has the wrong serial # on the fuselage decal. #506 was shot down by small arms fire in 1968. The pilot was K.I.A. #510 Derosed and was displayed in the Indiana Aviation Museum till it closed in 2010. It's now up for sale.

There are more antennas on this thing than my local FBI building.

I want to say thanks to the guys before me who built A-37's for this build because you gave me allot of incentive. I think I would have crushed this mouse if it wasn't for that incentive.

Here is my 1/72 UH-1A build. This is a kitbash of the Italeri and Hobby Boss kits. Fuselage, cabin floor and skids are Hobby Boss, virtually everything else is Italeri. The rotrohead has been extensively modified and is about 60% scratchbuilt. I also lowered the rotor mast for to get the proper look for a UH-1A and added the downwardv facing blade counterweights. There are bits and pieces of PE from the Eduard set as well. Decals are a mix of Fireball modelworks, Print Scale, and kit decals. The Print Scale decals were very finicky and rolled up into an unusable mess at the slightest chance. When I could get them down though, they were nice. Joseph Osborn's Fireball decals are always awesome and these were no exception. Virtually all the stencils are Fireball decals. I also mixed a custom paint to try and replicate the glossy OD used on these very early UH-1As. This bird represents a 57th Med UH-1A just after arrival to Vietnam in 1962. There is a litter inside, but it doesn't show up in these photos.

My nightmare should be finished and posted this week. That makes me a one digit midgit.

There's still time. Maybe I can get a second one done in time

At least you two guys have a banner.

I was hoping to have one made up from the Participant patch. .
