Hobby Boss 1/32 Il-2 'On Skis'

Recommended Posts

Quick update. I managed to get most of the cockpit completed - just waiting for some HGW seatbelts to arrive before I fit the seat. This is a mix of kit parts and Eduard etched metal.

Once the seat has been fitted, I just need to do some detail painting and add a few highlights, then I can move on!

I've been tied down with work recently, but I've made some progress!

Cockpit is complete:

Engine built too - I didn't bother too much with this, as most of it will be invisible once built:

Ready to join the fuselage halves together:

Some indication of how big it'll be once built!

So, along with every other kit of the Il-2, Hobby Boss decided to cover the rear fuselage with rivets and panel lines. This is a problem, because only the first 200-odd examples had a metal fuselage - all the rest had wooden ones. So out with the Tamiya Liquid Surface Primer, sanding sticks and nail polish remover...
