RAF Brize Norton base visit

So last weekend it was time to spend some quality time at an RAF airbase. Reason that the Royal Netherlands Association "Onze Luchtmacht" managed to lets be invited unto RAF Brize Norton Hell yeah I wanna go. So we spent a day at the airbase. It was a great day, a C-17 pilot of No. 99 Squadron was our guide of the day. After a nice briefing full of laughter we were given a tour every type the RAF has on there biggest airbase. We could see the C-17, C-130, A330 Voyager and A400M inside out. At eveyr aircraft we were given a lot of info. Especially the briefing by the A400M pilot was great. A nice diner hosted by our hosts was the end of the day. It was great.

An impression, part 1:

1. The C-17 we visited

2. Cockpit of the C-17. Spent quite some time in there. Sat on the right when the Ground Power Unit trip and left the C-17 without power. So the crew started up the Auxiliary Power Unit of the C-17 itself. Nice to see the crew doing the checklist from the right seat.

3. C-47 Dakota as an gate guard at the 47th Air Despatch Squadron

4. Twee C-130 were our lunch entertainment of the day

6. Red Arrows sent one of their Hawks to Brize for the family day that was held the next day

10. Quite a difference inside compared to the C-17. Every thing is covered with panels where inside the C-17 everything is visible.
