Just wondering if anyone had any good pics of what was mavericks jet as that it the one i would like to model. So far ive only seen shots of "104" which is icemans jet. Jennings
IIRC there were several jets used in the various scenes.

Brian P: Fightertown Decals
Your best bet is getting screen grabs off the movie. Tomcat Alley has a picture of 160694 as 114. 160665 was the main Maverick/Goose jet. -brian

Swordsman422
Squadron markings were fictional, or at least not F-14 squadrons. Maverick's squadron badge said VF-1 but was actually for VAW-110. Iceman's squadron markings read VFA-213 and were actually for VFA-25. Oddly enough, several real squadron birds from VF-1 and other PacFleet units can be seen in the background of tarmac shots. Be wary that the badge on the right tail was sometimes reversed. IIRC, shipboard shots the diving red hawk faces the nose, but the jet used to film at Miramar had the hawk facing the tail. Modex for the land-based jet was slanted and I think grey where the shipboard jet's modex was black and not slanted. See the below Wikipedia image.
