ikar
A couple type of aircraft not mentioned but all the same important were the Freedom Birds: These were contract flights using different airlines like Flying Tiger and others, mostly flying stretch DC-8 airliners to bring in the replacements and take home the guys who did their 12 months. Sometimes transports were used like the C-141, C-130 or C-5. The C-9 Nightingale: and the 747: This shot, like others I took at Littlerock were used during Operation New Life. They brought in the VIetnam Refugees who were process and then transferred to C-130s and flown to Fort Smith until homes could be found fo r them.
