Slartibartfast
First I hear the hacker group Anonymous has declared war on Daesh and now this. It's getting serious over there.
Jennings
Yeah, so let's hope he starts *actually* hitting Da'esh, and not the FSA and other anti-Assad groups.

Berkut
Yeah, so let's hope he starts *actually* hitting Da'esh, and not the FSA and other anti-Assad groups. While it is true that Russians has so far concentrated on gaining control over north-west areas (which are mostly under Al-Nusra control, google them, doubt you are a fan of them either) it is pure nonsense they have not been hitting ISIL previously. Because they have. Their priorities just have been different from political and military point of view than of coalition forces which has concentrated on south-east areas of Syria and northern Iraq. Also, when it comes to these videos; plenty of parts are lifted and pasted from unrelated events. The footage of Su-27's escorting Tu-22M3's or Tu-95MS' through the clouds have nothing to do with Syria.
Jennings
I don't watch TV (haven't since 2000), so I haven't seen any footage. But I have read numerous and widely varied news outlets, and the vast majority of them up to this point have all agreed that just about everything the Russians have been doing has been aimed at the anti-Assad forces, not Da'esh. Putin has made very clear his support for the murderous Assad regime, which has been Russia's buddy-buddy as long as Assad and his father have been in power. Being as neither of us is on the ground in Syria, I doubt it's possible to say for certain one way or the other, but so far, what I read says it hasn't been Da'esh (ISIS) that's been the main target of Russia's efforts. Newsflash; ISIL are also anti-Assad forces. So are Al-Nusra. FSA are not exactly the treehugging democracy lovers that some like to portray them as (not anymore anyway) either.
