Figuring to try to trip up the less than intelligent looking captain of the boat, the guy asks, "Why does the scuba diver fall backwards off the boat?" The captain waits for a minute, appears pensive, shakes his head and replies, "Well if he fell forward, he'd still in the feckin' boat, wouldn't he be, you stupid shite!"
