Tu-91 'Boot' - Soviet ASW platform

Recommended Posts

Look what Santa just delivered (in the guise of Martin, our village postman).....

The latest from the increasingly prolific Ukrainian enterprise of Modelsvit.

A contender for the prize of 'Ugliest Aircraft', the Tu-91 was designed as a carrier-based ASW platform....

Powered by a single TV-2 turboprop driving contra-rotating props, it made its maiden flight on 2 November 1954 and pased all its tests, but the carrier programme was cancelled and it got the Boot :rolleyes:/>/>

Continuing Modelsvits improving limited-run mouldings with delicate engraved detail, the fuselage is in two halves...

....as are the wings.......

Interior and undercarriage sprues....

Tailplanes, exhaust trunking and props......

Clear parts, simple decal sheet and canopy masks....

Paint matches are given for the Humbrol range of enamels....

.... although the colour scheme and markings are quite plain.....

I have to mention Hobby Terra for their excellent service - I ordered it on the 11th December and it was delivered today 23rd December - despite the Christmas rush.

The packaging was very good.

As soon as my Tu-22 Blinder is finished, I'll make a start.

Ken

PS - Also ordered and delivered with the Tu-91 was the Modelsvit Yak-140 and Yak-1000 kits
