Zero Enna
Happy New Year everybody! The last kit I bought in 2015 was a 1/72 MiG-9 from Amodel for my MiG collection (I only need a MiG-17 and -29 to complete it). I want to give it some extra detail. I only found a couple of pics of the istrument panel, but nothing about the seat, I don't even know if this as a very early jet had an ejection seat. Any info will be really appreciated. Best regards. José.
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
Hello Jose, Yes, the production models were fitted with an ejection seat. One of the things they discovered with initial flight testing was that jets were too fast and powerful to simply "bail out" as had always been done. I could be wrong, but I *think* it had an early version of the MiG-15 seat, as they both made their first flights only about a year apart.
dinozavr
A few photos of the cockpit http://postimg.org/gallery/14ni9mlya/ http://postimg.org/gallery/1cqb9zjl8/ http://s18.postimg.org/raeenniw9/Mig9_cocpit08_1.jpg http://s17.postimg.org/5znk00wmn/b6cbec2c2e45.jpg http://s28.postimg.org/dqrf1ttpp/image_24162_1.jpg No ejection seat. The serial version of ejection seat appeared only on the MiG-15, but the experiments were carried out on the MiG-9FR which was only in an experimental version Edited January 2, 2016 by dinozavr
Zero Enna
Thanks a lot for the pics! It reminds me of late Bf-109's seat for some reason. Best regards. José.
