jfmajor60
I'm sure this has been asked and answered more than once but what rattle can gloss black can I use with Alclad for a base coat?
Lucas C.
Tamiya, Model Master, and Krylon should all work just fine. Other may, too.
Paolo Maglio
mind Black base is needed only for Chrome and Polished Aluminium, for the rest of the shades light gray or even white works much better.
metroman
Varying the colors used in the undercoat further aids the modeler, by using blues, yellows, browns arranged by panels you can still shoot one Alclad tone on top but it will have subtle differences to avoid the monotone look. This further expands the shade range of the default Aluminum or whichever shade made possible by Alclads sheer coats. Best luck Edited January 16, 2016 by metroman

dnl42
Get the plastic as smooth as possible before painting. Get the undercoat as smooth as possible. Use sanding pads to 12000 grit for both tasks. Apply Alclad in light coats, close in, at about 13-15 psi.
