USCG aviation centennial MH-60T retro scheme!!

Recommended Posts

The new Italeri 1/48 HH-60J 2741 has new parts to depict a somewhat accurate HH-60J. It is still the same tooling as the HH-60H but with new "J" specific parts added. They also updated the cockpit doors to the correct doors and added the port side pylon extension. A lot of the parts could also be used to update the HH-60H. There is still a lot missing but it is an improvement over the original HH-60H.

Cool! I wasn't aware of that. Appears they've done one in 1/72 as well. Any intel on how good that is??

I don't own any in 1/72 but from online photos, the Italeri one isn't bad. The Hobby Boss 1/72 one is pretty nice too. Both have their problems but the Hobby Boss fuselage has a little nicer details over the Italeri. If it was me, I would mix and match parts from both but use the Hobby Boss main fuselage. I would use the pylons, main and tail rotors from Italeri and mix and match the rest like the interior.

The markings are generic, you don't need anything special. Just use the regular decals. All you need is to paint it yellow.

Here is a great walk around from Prime Portal that shows the same MH-60 6003 in the standard red/white paint scheme. The markings are all the same.

EDIT:

Sorry, the red/white scheme has black and yellow text on the doors and part of the fuselage where the centennial yellow one has the text in red.
