scotthldr
The build continues............ Finally got the fuselage buttoned up, took some time and corrections to get the seam as flush as possible however it will require a bit of work around the main cabin doors and the cabin floor. The roof and engine cowling are sat in place only. The spacer bar is in there to spread the fuselage walls in order to meet the roof, it will be removed once it's glued and set in place. Rotor head has been made up, might add some detail at a later stage You'll notice that the Tamiya Clear Green is out, as I've been spraying up the overhead glazing panels. Brutus
I like how you dressed up the interior Scott .. Very attention to detail.
scotthldr
Thanks Johan, although not having built anything for over a year I'm definitely finding myself out of the groove with this one(It seems that everything I do I have to do over). Tinted up the overhead glazing(on the sprue)last night and got it looking good, however when I went to install them today the oils in my skin has left marks on them. So ended up stripping off the Green and starting again, this time I'll install them first then spray the clear Green.

Can be a bit fumbling to get the rhythm I suppose. But then again, easy as it comes..looking forward to see it done.
scotthldr
Had a mishap with one of the overhead glazing panels. While removing it from the sprue it suffered a stress fracture at the sprue gate. Thought at first it was a chip on the surface but upon closer inspection it was the modellers worst nightmare. When the panel was tinted up it stood out like a sore thumb. Started looking through Ebay at this point for a cheap second hand kit, however before I purchased one I thought I would at least have a bash and try and repair the damage(nothing to lose) Looked at my options and the best I could think of was to dab a small amount of Clear Green on the external surface of the panel over the damaged area I then waited 5 mins for it to go tack dry before applying a dab of Tamiya thinner over it and giving a light rub with a fine paint brush. I left this for 10 mins before repeating with the thinner. This is the result. Will wait until tomorrow to see what it looks like under day light before deciding on whether or not to go with the second kit.
Brutus
I think you nailed it there, wouldn't be too visible once you're done at that scale. Keep it coming Scott.
tobiK
Good job on the clear part. If it will still be there later....put a ladder near the helo and let a guy standing on it cleaning the window with a towel! ;-)
scotthldr
Work is continuing on the build at a slow pace. The fuselage/roof and engine cowling are now attached but quite a bit of corrective work is needed overall due to poor fit and short casting on some parts, the engine cowling was particularly tricky but got there. The fuselage seam underneath has required repeated filling and sanding but I can see the light at the end of tunnel. Here's where we're at tonight. ATB Scott
Crazy Snap Captain
Admiring your patience and ATD Scott! She'll look awesome when done.

scotthldr
Thanks for the comments guys, still a lot of work to be done but once the filling and sanding is out of the way I feel the hard part is done.
jgrease
You're doing great work there - looking forward to more! John

scotthldr
Build is progressing slowly..... All seams have been cleaned and various antenna and air scoops have been added. Next up will be to finish off the interior lights before attaching the windscreen. Finally managed to source another supplier of Xtracolor, although in Germany their postage is cheaper than Hannants and they actually have stock.
tobiK
You make good progress despite all your detaling and throw backs! Great! And it looks like you added some special lumps n bumbs to your "Teppichklopfer". Ahh, German supplier!? You mean aero-special?
Grandboof
Great to see more progress Looks the part well done. Martin H
scotthldr
Ahh, German supplier!? You mean aero-special? Yes Aero Spezial, have you had any experience with them?
tobiK
Yes, I met the folks at model shows and also ordered few times online. They have really a LOT! And it works well, hazzle free, but take care, there are some extra charges when you choose the one or other payment method.

scotthldr
Thanks all for the words of encouragement, much appreciated :thumbsup:/>/> Decided to concentrate on the photo etch air intakes over the last couple of nights, as I was in the right frame of mind for etch work. The etch parts were a better fit and much easier to handle than what I expected... The was some reshaping of the etch to blend it into the shape of the cowling, followed by a base coat... Some more small antennas fitted Edited May 6, 2016 by scotthldr
Crazy Snap Captain
Nice work in the PE Scott! Looks great. What do you use to attach? I have had mixed results with super glue type adhesives lately.
