Ruud
I have the Academy P-38J. Love the looks of it. I picked up the QB resin engines and barrels as well. I would like to build it as a ETO or MTO in the OD and NG scheme with the silver faux drop snoot nose, but without D-Day stripes. The later is the catch. I have a Kagero Top Colors book with "California Cutie" in it, but it has the D-Day strips. Illiad has a sheet with "Gentle Annie" but it has D-Day stripes too. Question, are there other sheets with the silver nose and OD/NG in 1/72 that do not need the D-Day stripes. Or can i just not put on the D-Day stripes and be fairly certain that the mission marks/kills match up (fairly closely)? Thanks.
P-38 guy
Some on ebay. Sure some of the online shops have them also. But not with the silver nose. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kits-World-Decals-1-72-LOCKHEED-P-38J-P-38E-LIGHTNING-Fighter-/361410443616?hash=item5425bdb960:g:5fQAAOSwT5tWIZ2K http://www.ebay.com/itm/Iliad-Decals-1-72-LOCKHEED-P-38J-P-38L-LIGHTNING-Fighters-/361241834654?hash=item541bb0f49e:g:nwgAAOSw6LBVBFwe Mike Edited January 27, 2016 by P-38 guy
Ruud
might just have to wing it and go with Cal. Cutie and not do the stripes. I might be off on the mission marks some, but... what else to do.
peter havriluk
Remember, folks: Before June 6 no Allied aircraft had 'invasion stripes'. Everything else was there. If an airplane was in service before D-day, I'd have (and had) no trouble not applying them.
