vince14
Here's my entry - the Trumpeter 1/32 Nanchang CJ-6. I'll be finishing it in North Korean markings - hopefully (if I can work out how to do it) with a little something special attached!
Ryan Hothersall
Interesting to see what it comes out like. Here in Australia, the Nanchangs are popular as warbird and adventure flight aircraft. Flew on one in 2008. Nanchang Flight
vince14
OK, so I finally got around to sitting at my modelling desk..! There's a few nasty ejection marks on the cockpit sills which need filling in. the lower ones will be hidden by the cockpit floor and side consoles. I added some sections of copper wire twisted together to represent the wiring looms. Thinned Tamiya X-18 has been added to the cockpit to represent shadows once the overall colour has been applied. I tried a new product from Uschi van der Rosten - metallic polishing powders. These are the insides of the engine cowling - the left is Tamiya Semi-Gloss Black, whilst the right is their Gloss Black. After applying the 'Steel' to the Semi-Gloss half (left) and 'Chrome' to the Gloss half (right). Wow - this is amazing stuff! The Chrome is excellent, even on a rough brush-painted surface. If you were to apply the black carefully and made sure you had a super-smooth finish, this would be perfect. Not too sure how well it would go on smaller, more intricate parts, but for large areas it's the business. I think one small tub would be more than enough for most 1/32 aircraft, although you might need two if you were building the HKM 1/32 B-17.
RKic
does it rub off when handled?
yardbird78
That polishing powder certainly does provide an interesting effect. Darwin
Grandboof
Good to see this one started. Martin H
vince14
does it rub off when handled? Not so far. I'm going to get an old kit and perform a real test on it over the next few days.
K5054NZ
Excellent! I have a real soft spot for the Nanchang, the controls are so sensitive you can literally use just one finger on top of the stick to manoeuvre. Looking forward to seeing your next update!
vince14
Threw the engine together and painted it a basic colour - as with so many Trumpeter kits, none of this will be visible once the model is complete except for the exhausts.
yardbird78
The engine and accessory section looks great. Can you open a panel or something to let it be seen?
Ryan Hothersall
Looking good so far.
vince14
Cockpit is nearing completion...
vince14
The engine and accessory section looks great. Can you open a panel or something to let it be seen? It's going to be quite the tailsitter, so I think I'm going to have to leave it buttoned up and add additional weight into the nose.

Sebastijan
Great looking office. Nice to see the side consoles covering all those nasty big pin marks.
