frogman13
Here's my version of an Egyptian MiG-17 as it would have appeared in the 1973 Yom Kippur/ Ramadan war. The aircraft is in the "Nile Valley" camouflage scheme. I added the Egyptian bomb pylons to the under fuselage and also the rails for Sakr unguided rockets. This kit, is cheap (under $20 US) and as most people will say, inaccurate in a few areas, but with an aftermarket resin cockpit, a "Squadron" MiG-15 crystal canopy (modified for the 17) and alot of "elbow grease", this kit can be turned into a little gem. I built this one as an adversary for my previously posted Israeli F4 Phantom.
IJ001
One of my favourite paint schemes, love the 'Nile Delta' pattern. TBH I prefer this to your F-4E, simply because I appreciate the work that you've put in to it to get this standard of finish. Ian.

Thanks Ian, Here's photos of the actual aircraft that I copied the camouflage pattern from, as seen in the Bright Star exercise with the USAF. It retained the same scheme from the earlier 1973 war. Every aircraft pattern was painted differently using the same colors. After the mid-1980s, the Egyptians painted all their fighter aircraft in a common symmetrical 3-tone pattern for each type. kurnass77
Splendid Fresco! I planned a Syrian one for the future ( great help from the Harpia books ) and in the W.I.P. section you can see my actual NVAF MiG-17F. Eager to see more models! Gianni
Youngtiger1
Totally awesome. I have this kit somewhere in my pile and glad to see its not all that junk what I hear about it. You sure created a diamond out of a coal ;) Mike
dragan_mig31
Great work.I like how you managed to build this one.Spot on!
Exhausted
I always wondered why the MiG-19s got the grey patterns. It suggests high altitude operation but Egypt had much better options for that.
frogman13
Here is the Egyptian MiG-17 and Israeli F-4E Phantom II together. It's stunning to see the size disparity between the two aircraft when compared side by side.
