Some shots from the Heritage Con

Recommended Posts

Met Pete and Ricardo Salame at the Heritage Con!!! :) Truly awesome, down-to-earth fellows!!! Learned a lot today from you guys, thanks!!! Sadly, just a single table was a devoted to space models. Sadly, too, Pete couldn't finish his LM stack, which would have been a most awesome sight! Oh, Pete, if you'd waited a bit longer before leaving you would have had a chance to examine Ricardo's astounding 1/48 Orion LM! I took some shots of his work below. I wish, though, that I could work my camera better -- it's always hit-and-miss the way my photos turn out and I always have to select the few clearer ones:

Those photos aren't bad at all! Thanx for posting 'em!!

I'm really glad Ricardo brought his LM. It ... looks ... a-MAY-z-z-zing!! It raised the standard of the category! Plus, I would've liked to have met him! And it was great to meet you too crackerjazz!

That LM has a lot of scratch built items on it, and the interior ... holy kow ... that's the kind of stuff I want to see in person!

It was very good to meet Ricardo at Heritagecon yesterday. We had a good chat about how we came by our interest in space flight and old memories. His work is by far the best I've seen - very inspiring. Thank you Crakerjazz for also photographing my Atlantis - I've only recently started building again after many many years - so don't be too harsh on my Orbiter.

I've enjoyed coming to the forum for awhile now to pickup ideas and perhaps I'll be lookin for more help soon enough!

Heritagecon is held in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. It's a great place with wide collection of historic aircraft flown by Canadian forces. It has one of only two still flying Lancasters in the world. Here's the site:http://www.warplane.com/

Recommended if you ever get up this way. Heritagecon held every year at this site - attracts people from all around the region and fron the States as well.

I knew I should have stuck around to meet you guys -- had to split early too during the cars category and didn't catch the awarding of Space models. But congrats, Ricardo! Hey, Ret, you're very welcome - I knew I should've taken photos of all of them. Hi Hotdog -- HeritageCon is a one-day model sale/show/contest held every March at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum/Hangar in Hamilton, Ontario -- right next to the John Munro Hamilton International Airport -- http://www.heritagecon.ca/index.html I saw some vintage kits I now regret not buying -- I know they might end up in the unbuilt stash but that's what modelers do!

I've only recently started building again after many many years - so don't be too harsh on my Orbiter.

That's a nice Shuttle Ret ... you should bring it to the London and/or Ajax show too. I'll bring 7 or 8 Real Space models, Ricardo can bring 7 or 8, cracker jazz can bring a finished one, or 4, and we'll overwhelm the organizers with Space models!! :woot.gif:

Don't be shy about posting your builds ... I would've loved to see your build up of the Shuttle ... like what aftermarket, if any, did you use?

Pete

They are both good shows. London is held once every 2 years, if I recall correctly.

If you decide to go, let us all know and we'll overwhelm them with Space models!! :woot.gif:/>/>

Would love to go - I'll try - but I may be in Montreal that weekend moving my daughter.

Question - I've got both the Monogram and Revell LM kits that you guys did such amazing work on - what are you uing for foil and how are you getting it to stick. The effects Pete and Ricardo are getting are fantastic. Also - what paint are you using - is enamel better than acrylic?
