Brian P: Fightertown Decals
This is really cool news! There are so many L-39's in private hands here in the US, that I can think of 15-20 schemes I would do off the top of my head. I just did some design work for something that may be going in the garage at 1:1 scale in the not to distant future. I'm not worrying about licensing on the real deal since there's nothing for profit in it, but I don't know if doing them in scale would require anything ;) (Gonna say not). Can't wait to see the L-39 hit the shelves! Brian

jgrease
They are nothing special! Boring in most cases! They had the standard L-39 trainer camo just as the GDR, after all this is where they came from. The same camo was on all L-39's be it a Czech or a Russian . . . The one off paints (as illustrated above) were a joke and prepared for single events only to be repainted soon after. Only a handfull airframes were overhauled and received Hungarian camo colours, still nothing special. Not worth doing! Best regards Gabor Well it doesn't sound like "best regards" - LOL. Those "one-off" schemes were still nice. By your logic there's no point in modeling any of the special event paint jobs like Tiger Meet schemes. Sincerely, John

Just including a shot of the decal sheet doesn't do much. I'm not really inclined to purchase decals when I have no idea what the subject looks like. John

We've actually changed the way we put our instruction sheets together since we released the L-39 sets, which enables us to pull out the profiles for marketing purposes with much greater ease. In the meantime, Steve did the donkey work for us in publishing the profiles from this set: http://www.arcair.com/Rev2/1401-1500/Rev1439-LindenHill-LHD48009/00.shtm

crlandrum
I prefer operational schemes over the one-off commemorative schemes. Libyan and Syrian markings would be very topical. Thanks for soliciting our input.

crlandrum
Oooh I do like the DDR target tug scheme! Concur with the others gun pack and several types of rocket pods - that is what the Syrian AF is using. The L-29 was great and I can't wait for this one.
