Painting formation lights

Recommended Posts

So I find that most of the decal formation lights are off in color and seem way to bright. Im thinking of painting them on instead but not sure what color to use. Rather then play the guessing game I figured id ask here first for any tips for a more realistic color. Any tips appreciated :thumbsup:/>

they are a pasty desaturated yellow when off. when turned on, they are a glow-in-the-dark green

hope this helps!

My link

Also depends on how much they are exposed to the sun. Even the same formation light varies in color due to the sun/manufacturing lot number. So you really can't go wrong in a dull faded yellow color or if a light was just replaced and looks brand new, but not a bright look.

Good topic to bring up...

And the link I showed from the ARC gallery, most will light up as shown the examples in the links above (ty Anvil6) even tho they look well faded.

Thanks for the replies! After screwing up the wingtip decals I was forced to make a mix that matched slightly using tamiya yellow and some white. Next time I'm at the hobby shop I'll try and find a color that matches close out of the bottle.
