White Wolf
I'd like to start branching out into building ship models but I'm not sure where to start as I've zero experience in building 1/700 and 1/350 ships. What are some of the kits out there that a beginner can easily build to get a good result? I'd prefer starting off with WWII Japanese ships, but any other subject would be fine too as long as it doesn't take up a huge amount of display space.
nerdling
I'd actually recommend trying your hand at a 1/350 submarine. I've built a few from Hobby Boss and they are fairly easy, inexpensive and don't take up much shelf space.
Rich in name only
Revell. Simple kits but you deal with many of the basic ship skills. Great prices for low investment vs "oops". Just read the adjacent question about painting and assembly for another member new to ships, with a 1/350 New Jersey. Revell's Arizona would be a perfect "trainer" kit.
