model is too shiny after clear coat.

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

as description says. is there a way i can fade/dull the model?

i did a Chinook but had to use automotive clear from spray can.its just too shiny for my taste.

i would say its too late to do anything about it now as its been done for months but it really bugs me every time i look at it.

any advise is welcomed .

Hey A21-29, I'm assuming that you will want your windows to remain glossy. Make sure that you mask the windows, since they are already nicely glossed. If your gloss coat is acrylic based, you'll have to use masking tape, preferably something that is low-tack like Tamiya masking tape. If you use a liquid masking agent on an acrylic based paint/clear-coat, it may have a non-reversible reaction with your acrylic gloss coat. However, if you used a solvent based clear coat, such at Testor's Clearcote, you can use a liquid mask. If using a liquid mask, you may still want to mask with tape around the edges, then fill in the center with your liquid mask. Good Luck!!!!
