Tomcat Tweeker
Hi All!I wanna play!!! I'm in with a Hasagawa 1/48 MK.VII. Starting off with the MK.IXe boxing and using a Brengun Conversion kit. And gonna try a Master Metal Cannon set as well..... Found a set of Aeromaster Decals on Ebay.... Just waiting on them to arrive. I never knew there was a pressurized version of the Spit.... So this should be cool!! Started out by attaching the rear pressure bulkhead to the aft cockpit structure... Started to sort out some ejector pin marks... Removed the inner door structure and installed new PE Detail for it..... Removed the external door hinge and re scribed....And filled in the canopy rail guides. Filled the aft door seam and Installed new canopy rails And finally, installed the gun bay covers..... Pretty nice fit! Well that's it for now! Thanks for looking.... Grandboof
Cool The high altitude MkVII is something different. Looking forward to this . Martin H
Tomcat Tweeker
Thanks Martin! Update.... Been pluggin' along..... Worked the cockpit.... Didn't go too nuts... Such a small profile when it's closed up.... Just did a basic paint and weathering... Also found a set of Eduard Super Fabric Seat Belts.... They are pretty cool! Wing together, New Cannon Barrels mounted and wing mounted to the fuselage..... And a pretty decent wing root joint too! Now the not fun part.... The resin Lower cowl / Chin Scoop kinda blows.... Although I was impressed with the aft fit where it mounted to the lower wing and how it wrapped around the leading edges.... I found that cowl wasn't long enough..... So I marked the cowl.... And cut it forward of the leading edge.... And re attached forward to match the nose.... (Continued) Edited May 7, 2016 by Tomcat Tweeker
Tomcat Tweeker
Looks pretty good after the 1st round of filling and sanding..... Also worked the prop and spinner..... Thanks for looking! Dave
nickdanger
I tried the ICM version of Spirit of Kent a few years ago. That was my first encounter with the nightmare that are ICM decals. What a pain. Then I go an cut the door open like a non-pressurized Spit. Still happy with the color though. Yours is looking great.
Tomcat Tweeker
Looks great Nick! Funny thing..... I was striking out on finding aftermarket decals for this build..... So I picked up the ICM Kit just for the decals.... Knowing full well t hat the ICM stickers are kinda crap! I was thankful to find the Aeromaster sheet! LOL Hope they get here soon! I'm in paint now! Tomcat Tweeker
Thanks Martin! Well here is what has been done over the last few days.... Finished fairing in the lower cowl..... Not perfect but looks pretty good..... Fitted the wing tips as well.... Ended up using the tips from an Eduard kit... The resin tips from the conversion were way undersized... Primed, Painted and now just waiting for the decals to arrive.... Primed with Mr Surfacer Black Started on the lower surfaces by mottling in with Mr Color Lacquer C72 Intermediate Blue Then ligtened with some Light Gull Grey and finished up filling in the color Then upper surface was painted in the same manner using Mr Color C363 Medium Sea Grey Lightened with Flat White.... Thanks All for looking! More after the stickers arrive! Dave Edited May 12, 2016 by Tomcat Tweeker

nickdanger
That color is downright sexy on a Spit. Maybe its because we never see it on WWII planes and so often on modern jets but nice changeup from the usual color schemes.
