Old Blind Dog
Nice! (Wish I had the display space to build things that big.) cheers Old Blind Dog
philo426
Yes I am running out of space also.May have to hang it from the ceiling.
jester292
I've heard that's a great kit. I've passed up the chance to have it, twice.
philo426
i started to detail paint the cockpit and bulkheads as well as installing the side glass.I also paintedd the internal window framing.
philo426
installed the internal window frames with 2 part epoxy to prevent frosting and dry brushed instrument details.
philo426
Mounted the cockpit and main floor to the fuselage side and added chairs, benches, handrail by the door and the gunners ladder. The chairs exhibit very delicate molding that I find most impressive!
philo426
Closed up the fuselage halves,Some body work will be necessary in the front.
jester292
Looks good! You should post this in the in-progress forum.
philo426
Tacked on the roof, the fit is fairly good but far from perfect. Not sure what to do that will not make it impossible to remove.I was thinking of added ribbed styrene to make the gaps less prominent. what do you guys think? philo426
Added the bottom fuselage section.Might be a few gaps.
philo426
The leading edge of both wings required some filler.
philo426
Long wingspan!
mlicari
Looks good! I really liked that kit. I built one in 2004 and don't remember having to fill and sand as much as you are...maybe the mold it going? Sadly, I had to give away most of my built kits when I moved last year, and the JU-52 didn't make the trip with me. Hmmmm. Maybe it's time to go get another one! :)
philo426
Yes the fit was a bit disappointing, I guess tooling does wear out resulting in looseler tolreances.
philo426
Taped up the canopy and windows.Getting ready to prime and paint.
dnl42
Great work on you Tante Ju! It's in my stash...but I'm leery of the corrugations. Your work is giving me confidence to tackle this beast. FWIW, here's a Postimage gallery mostly of the Ju-52 at Deutsches Museum in Munich.
philo426
Very cool thanks! Wow! this plane has a large surface area!I had to keep adding paint to the color cup much more often than usual!
philo426
Painted the underside light blue.Lots of paint!
philo426
Airbrushed the desert yellow.
dnl42
That's a lot of acreage to cover! I hope you're using at least a 0.5mm needle with a fan pattern on this! At the time I did my X-47B, I gave up on my Badger 360 with its 0.3mm needle and used Testor's rattle cans. I now have an Iwata HP-TH, and will be ready for this one when I get to it... BTW, how did you fill the gaps on the fuselage corners and wing LE and TE? I would guess putty, solvent, and cotton buds.
philo426
I used my Paasche V L double action with a #5 tip.For the gaps,I taped them off then placed my tube of Bondo spit putty in a container of warm water,Applied the putty with a small flat head screwdriver and allowed it to dry.Wet sanded it with 320 grit sandpaer wrapped around a 1/8 piece of bass wood.
