Rich in name only
hate to be the party pooper but looks too short at both ends even for a -2. Legs too high too.
jimm33
Jimmnocrickets, Rich!! You are absolutely right! I wonder if this is because this is a 3D rendering? I can't believe incorrect lengths would be missed by D&S. Scale Aircraft Conversions will take care of the landing gear. Jim
Brad-M
Looks ok to me height-wise. And here's a nice bunch of pics too to wet your appetite. http://www.axis-and-allies-paintworks.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?13118 Brad Edited July 15, 2016 by Brad-M

However, there really isn't a true side aspect shot, so maybe (I HOPE, HOPE, HOPE) it is simply an aspect of the angled photo? As far as being short, it is difficult to tell that, as there is nothing to lend perspective. Rick Edited July 15, 2016 by madmanrick
11bee
Scale Aircraft Conversions will take care of the landing gear. Jim SAC typically just releases crappy cast metal copies of the kit parts. I'd like to think this will be addressed before it is released.
jimm33
FWIW, the Ginter book gives an overall length for the -2 of 40.42ft, height of 14ft 5.5in. KH should respond to set the record straight. If I'm not mistaken, SAC did correct the too short nose gear on the Cougar (i.e. collapsed). Jim
Brad-M
Excuse me, but why should KH respond at all? Brad
Ben Brown
hate to be the party pooper but looks too short at both ends even for a -2. Legs too high too. Maybe the open canopy makes the fuselage look short? I'm looking forward to this one. I especially like what looks to be an injection-molded instrument panel. Hopefully, the consoles are, too. Don
I'll probably grab this one eventually. I look forward to reading folks build blogs first. Neat looking aircraft, especially with the wings folded.
jimm33
Brad, To confirm the accuracy of what we've seen so far. IMHO. We rely on kit manufacturers to do their homework before they cut tooling or when they show a 3D image. In any regard, I like what KH has done to provide much needed kits that have been ignored by others. I'll buy the Banshee for sure! Jim
Brad-M
Have you ever known Tamiya or Hasegawa to get on a forum and state "Yes jimm33, we goofed...sorry about that" We won't know the true dimensions until someone gets one and does a proper review, but at this time, KH does not need to get on this or any other forum to confirm anything. dragonlance
Well, over on Facebook Bert Kinzey (D&S) is dissapointed. It does look too short. Has almost a T-37 feel... Vedran The milimeter brigade
Rich in name only
Well, since I survived that one, here's some more thinkifying: The photo of the model looks like a widescreen movie frame playing on a narrow screen setting. So KH may reply that the photo is compressed lengthwise but not vertically. Regarding the real thing photos: The first shows a plane most likely without engines, therefore very light, possibly on braced mains. The other photos do provide support for the height but not entirely. Look at the one with a number of planes---different heights. Also that some are nose high, others nose low (even when not on cat), and others level. Was only around two of the actual planes so not much experience but photos have tended to favor the lower, nose down attitude, especially with stores. Which means: we could use multiple AM LG options, KH provide optional LG parts, we hone our skills at LG surgery. Makes for interesting possibilities for a model "in flight" with gear down. madmanrick
What were Bert's comments, for those of us who don't do Facebook? Ben Ben, here is the quote (cut and pasted from FB): Bert Kinzey I see some issues. Hope you are aware of them and that they can be fixed. Since Mr. Kinzey was not specific about what the issues that he has noted are, attributing anything concrete to him is speculating at this time imo. madmanrick
Who is Glen and what is his relationship with Song and Kitty Hawk? On that FB page it states that he worked at Kitty hawk, but beyond that I am not familiar with him. Rick Edited July 17, 2016 by madmanrick
Gene K
On that FB page it states that he worked at Kitty hawk, but beyond that I am not familiar with him. "Worked at"? He was viewed in the past on ARC as a prime KittyHawk mover ... even an owner with decision making power. However, I'm pretty sure he's "merely" a US rep. If the past any indication, he'll likely be at a table at the US IPMS Nationals, so that would be a good opportunity to meet him. Gene K
madmanrick
"Worked at"? Yes, his FB profile says exactly that, "worked at." Since I know no details other than those, I cannot offer any additional info. Rick
