The Loggie
I've virtually completed an Airfix 72-scale Sea Knight (in Swedish Navy OOB markings). (sorry - the pasting of the photo FAILED!!) I've lined the (otherwise) hollow inside and added seats (for something to look-at). I can open the rear doors and I've left the starboard 2-part door open in the way is happens on the real thing. But I dunno what happens to the port-side door. Which way does it move to open? Any ideas? Many thanks. George, out..............
82Whitey51
The port side hatch, is a removable escape hatch, not hinged. If removed, it was stowed in the cabin. On USMC/USN CH-46s, provisions were there to mount a .50 cal machine gun. Some of the Navy Rescue birds (and USMC SAR birds), were fitted with a "loud hailer" speaker in the place of the hatch. That is the square box with the "chutes" that you see in some photos. Some folks thought those were sono buoy chutes or a flare launch system...nope, just a loud speaker.
