pollie
This is a fairly recent Hasegawa boxing of the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force UP-3D operating out of Iwakuni naval base near Hiroshima. Three of these birds are in service. Inside is Hasegawa's standard (and pretty old) P-3 Orion, along with a new set of decals and some resin for the various bulges and vents. I will do some rescribing since Hase's kit has raised panel lines. More to follow!

yardbird78
Just putting all of those decals on the model will be quite a job. Darwin

pollie
I've assembled the cockpit and the props and put some Mr. Surfacer on them. I started rescribing the horizontals and the wings. A lot of work, hope it will be worth it in the end!
Trojan Thunder
Nice start. The panel lines on this kit are the only issue I really have with it. Even though on the actual aircraft the panels are lap joined which means the panels have raised edges. I think it looks better re-scribed.
Grandboof
Great to see this one started Looking forward to more Martin H
Ichitoe
I've always liked the P-3, and one all "warted out" looks even cooler! Looking forward to your build! Mike
Hoops
Even though on the actual aircraft the panels are lap joined which means the panels have raised edges. I think it looks better re-scribed. And that's only on the fuselage, all the wings and stabs are normal panel lines. Cheers, Hoops
Trojan Thunder
And that's only on the fuselage, all the wings and stabs are normal panel lines. Cheers, Hoops Thanks Hoops, was not sure about that. Out with the scriber on the next P-3 build for me.

pollie
Thank you, Darwin, much appreciated. Do P-3 Orions show any riveting on wings or fuselage? If so, anyone that can point me towards a good walkaround on the internet?
Trojan Thunder
I am pretty sure you wont see any rivet detail. Panels that do have any fasteners are noticeably screws. The CP-140 walkaround here has got some good closes ups of the screws, etc

Trojan Thunder
I have a particular interest in P-3s at the moment, my son is a maintainer on them :D
