This is Meng's 1/35 vs004 Pickup w/ZU-23-2The cabin, the back section and the chasis are all complete however they are dryfit at the moment.

Began with the weathering of the cabin, will tone down the dust tho. Intention is to make this one a technical out of Syria, hence the dust.

The cab looks the part in my opinion Murad . Looks dirty, dusty, and generally well used. Neat and unique subject.

Looking forward to following along.

zu-23-2 is mostly assembled. there are still lots of details missing but this is the bulk of it and looking menacing already.

i have postponed the wx step until the entire model is ready.

ground 9b graphite pencil and applied the lead to one of the barrels via brush but didnt like the look. will repeat the other one with ordinary 2b lead pencil, otherwise i'll be looking for alternates...

Don thanks alot!

You and me both on the same page, this thing looks like it's gonna keelover with a slight breeze as it is even without firing those nasty caliber guns... then again i grew up watching the A-team, what do i know?! biggrin.gif

yep, as u've guessed, it's time for a motivational video; Darwin is proud!

Cabin received a makeshift radio. also threw in a magazine and bottle so Ebu Hafiz won't get bored.

Right from the start my plan was to do a used ZU over a brand new jeep, hence all the chipping and the battering the ZU received.

From now on it's gonna be dust rust leaks for the entire vehicle where appropriate.

Looking pretty good. What is on the roof above the passenger seat? Antenna?

Right from the start my plan was to do a used ZU over a brand new jeep...

One point, it is not a jeep. The vehicle is a Toyota Land Cruiser Model 70, which has been produced from 1984 to present.

HeavyArty thanks a bunch for the clarification - i was wondering why nothing came up when i googled for toyota jeep! figures now. Btw, yes i will attach an antennea over that contraption.

Anyway here's the latest wips, weathering on the hull is complete more or less. i will now focus on the port section and wheels.

And FFS, who left that footprint on the backwindow - CLEAN IT! expl.gif

Olivier yeah i saw the behemoth at your blog, WOW!

as for the pickup this is where i am atm, will have to finish this one before 2nd sept because i'll be attending a contest with this one.

load is NOT final, i will do the placement once the ZU is installed. will take of the pigment work afterwards. while i am there i'd like to do empty bullet shells but i have no idea how to fix em, matt varnish maybe?

as for the base i am not sure if to continue with it, without a figure it may not be worth it but then again it makes carrying the model a lot easier for the trip to the contest...

The railings that are carrying the flak has received their rust finally.

First of all couple of coats of hairspray, then a wide variety of rust related tamiya acrylic colors thinned with WATER, paint was tedious because when thinning with water the paint must be extremely light and after each pass the should be dried somehow, either air via double action airbrush or hairdryer. After the colors are visible enough time for oil wash and pigments. Finally cocktail stick to the rescue to scratch the rust from logical places like edges or whereever the crew would walk.

This is fantastic work.  Truly.  As far as the dust goes, having spent a "little" bit of time in the region, and getting closer than I'm confortable with several similar vehicles...it is literally impossible to overdo the dust.  It permeates everything, because it's the consistency of baby powder, just complete covering on everything.
