galileo1
Hey all, A very quick inquiry. I'm working on Trumpeter's 1/48 MiG-15Bis (not an easy build at all, by the way) and I'd like to know whether the intake color on camo jets would be the same color as the underside? I can't seem to find any useful info on this so I thought I'd ask here. In case it helps, this is the jet I'm trying to do: Thanks for the help! Rob
ya-gabor
What do you mean by intake colour? There was no need what so ever to camouflage the intake inside! It is possible that there was a very slight overlap as the camo colour turned into the intake, but it was minimal. Note that almost all aircraft were painted individually without very specific painting instructions so if you can, follow and references you have to make that particular aircraft. As to the intake inside: it is dull aluminium colour. You have to know that at the bottom of the intake there was a cable channel and to seal it strips of canvas were glued in and painted silver. So it was not completely uniform natural metal aluminium colour. But in 72nd or even 48th scale this would not be important. Best regards Gabor
galileo1
Thanks, Gabor. Unfortunately, I have no actual references on the particular jet I want to do. I did see some UTI's with what seemed like the underside color painted inside the intake and so I deduced that it may be the same with the Bis. I guess I can try and make an educated guess here. Again, thanks for the info! Rob Edited July 25, 2016 by galileo1
