dsahling
Does anyone have some good photos of A-6As from the top down wearing the light gull grey over white (i.e. Vietnam Era) showing some good weathering? I'm going to do an A-6A from Vietnam soon and wanted to know how they weathered and were touched up while at sea. Thanks Dan
tony.t
The shots are scanned yearbooks but contain some gem pictures. Just look for the relevant carrier, year and Intruder Atkron... http://www.navysite.de/cruisebooks/ HTH T
ziggyfoos
Here's some cruisebook photo examples, not the best quality though. From what I've seen of Vietnam A-6s the majority of the topsides seemed relatively clean (not gummed all over weathered with black soot everywhere) VMA-AW-533 1972-73 (check out the red MERs, I assume borrowed from VMFA-232): VA-196 1971-72 (A-6B too, and 511 looks like the intake warning has sharkteeth?): This is probably the scummiest underside I've come across so far, this is VMA-AW-225 from 1970: Edited August 2, 2016 by ziggyfoos
