Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
Got a 1/72 F-105F (WW converted from a G) ready for the paint shop, and I thought the wheel bays and inner door surfaces would have been simple--Interior Green. Maybe not? Seems like I'm finding some with bays painted the same as the undersurfaces (36622), although might this be from restorations, or from late-overhaul birds? And even the inner surfaces of the gear doors, I'm not finding them to be green either, am I right? What I want is a late 60's bird in the middle of the Vietnam fight. kenlilly106
Off the top of my head... Gear bays would have been interior green fresh from the factory, gear would have been silver lacquer and the inside of the gear doors would be silver lacquer. A possible exception to the latter is that the inner gear door may have the bottom half painted red as a warning. It has a sharp point and hangs down alongside the fuselage. I think they went all gray late in life and not during the war. Ken
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
The "not during the war" bit seals it nice and neat for me. Thanks Ken!
