john53
Can the 1/144 ROG Embraer 195 be cut down to back date it to a 190? I have heard cut .6mm in front of the wings and .7mm in back of the wings, removing 2 windows. Is that all that is necessary? Thanks---John
Trojan Thunder
John, If you have the means you can cut down anything , but yes you can cut it down. Don't know how much though. 0.6 and 0.7mm doesn't sound enough. Just did quick Google and found that you need to remove 5.6mm forward of the wing and 11.11mm aft of the wing. Cut lines from the tip of the nose are at 76.6mm and 165mm down the fuselage. Or you could wait for Revell to release the ERJ190 which is a future release (no date supplied at this time). Lenny
Hopefully they'll release the 190 in JetBlue colors!
john53
Thanks guys, Lenny you hit the nail on the head, a JET BLUE 190!!!!!---John P.S.---no ideas when this materializes?---John
john53
I went to a site that said the 195 is 2.4 meters longer than the 190. If my math is right in 1/144 scale you need to remove 16.66mm from the Revell 195 to get it to 190 length? Or for Americans .65" aproximately. This sound right. Now to find out where. Thanks---John
Trojan Thunder
...This sound right. Now to find out where. Thanks---John Ah, I mentioned it in my post Cut lines from the tip of the nose are at 76.6mm and 165mm down the fuselage. Remove 5.6mm forward of the wing and 11.11mm aft of the wing. I usually cut on a panel line or between window frames if possible. I don't have a kit yet to see where the cuts would be. I will be picking one up soon though. Trojan Thunder
Hopefully they'll release the 190 in JetBlue colors! We are talking Revell (G) here. It will most likely in a European operator's colours. Nazca already have an E190 Jetblue sheet available As well as Authentic Airliners in Germany.
radioguy
Judging by their latest releases, Revell may do a 190 only in Embraer house colours. Licensing for airline schemes is becoming cost prohibitive, it seems.
scotty100368
Guys, I have located the original conversion notes from 8A Decals (which had the wrong measurements), and have corrected it for everyone's benefit. It agrees with what Trojan Thunder said earlier. Basically, remove 1 window forward and 2 windows aft of the wing... Scott. john53
Thanks, I am ordering the kit and will buy the Jet Blue decals. I am not waiting for ROG, I know I am a mere 63, but want this done yesterday. LOL---John I just noticed that the decals have the 13th window on an emergency exit, my picture of an actual Jet Blue 190 has the window on the emergency door as the 12th window. Also how many windows are there, i thought 26 per side, decals show 29?---John Edited August 17, 2016 by john53
scotty100368
John, An E-190 has a full complement of 26 pax windows with the overwing exit on the 12th. An E-195 has a full complement of 29 pax windows with the overwing exit on the 13th. Those Jetblue decals are actually for an E-195. Likewise with the fuselage cutting, you'll have to trim 1 window off the front and 2 off the rear for an E-190. Scott.
john53
Thanks, I never realized on all those Jet Blue flights I took that they also flew 195s. I have been enlightened.---John
john53
Just out of curiosity is there any U.S. or Canadian liveries that use the EJR-195? Most I have seen use the 175 or 190. Thanks---John
Emvar
None in Canada. AC only operates 175s and 190s....they will be phasing out the 190s for the Cseries 300 in the next couple of years.
757flyer
Thanks, I never realized on all those Jet Blue flights I took that they also flew 195s. I have been enlightened.---John JetBlue doesn't operate E195s, they only operate E190s Regards, Mike
