1/32 Academy F-18 Hornet

Recommended Posts

Just a question. Does anyone have a copy of Academy kit 2191 (or any other 1/32 Academy Hornet for that matter) with an MRC logo anywhere on the box? I'm trying to get MRC customer service to help me with parts for my Hornet, but they won't do so. I've been told unless the kit has their logo and address on it, they can't provide customer/product support or quality control, because it's not a product they sell/distribute. The funny thing is, all the 1/32 Academy Hornets that MRC has provided as samples for online reviews are also devoid of an MRC logo.

When I mentioned this, I was told that they checked their parts department and that they do not have any boxes of the kit to show me as proof of this. They also went on to say they have no parts remaining for a 1/32 Academy Hornet. Anyways, just curious if anyone has a boxing with MRC on it, or if there's anything else I can do to get parts support. I've tried Academy direct numerous times with no response.

What parts are you missing? I have a box of the leftovers of my Hornet in the basement. If it's not a "crucial" part I may have it.

I don't think my box has MRC anywhere on it either. I got a replacement canopy for an AH-64 kit that I wanted to redo and when they asked me about the logo I told them I had built the kit awhile ago and didn't have the box anymore. Never heard anything else but a couple weeks later I received the canopy free of charge. So I couldn't complain with that.

Thanks for the info and the offer! I may have some help already from another forum member, I'm just waiting to hear back, but I'll let you know.

That being said, I still want to get to the bottom of this logo thing though, in case it might be of some help to others faced with a similar problem.

Kit 2191 is no longer in the catalog, so that could be the issue. Both the F/A-18A boxing and the F/A-18D are listed as in stock at modelrectifier.com, so they have the 1/32 kits on hand. None of the current Academy kits have the MRC logo on the boxes and they do in fact sell them direct from their site.
