Today I finished the perforated rails for my open panels project. It was a very tiresome issue with over 550 holes had to be drilled. I am glad to have it almost finished. Some small details and a bit putty and sanding still is necessary to come as close to the reality as possible.

As shown on the pictures in Jeke Melampy´s excellent reference book, in some cases the corners of the rails are a bit rounded. I simulated this with the new AK Interactive AK104 putty, which was put with a toothpick into the corners. This stuff works perfectly for this matter. It is a rather slow drying stuff and will be sanded later.

Stay tuned for the small details, like actuators, pipework, etc. for the panels. I calculate with 4-5 weeks for this. Sometimes, I tend to underestimate the amount of research and work of these subjects, so it can take longer. However, it will be a very interesting and diversified job.
