1/48 Lynx Mk.88A gun replacement

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I'm currently working on the Airfix Lynx, and doing it as a German Navy Mk.88A. Lovely kit, for the most of it, but I'm a bit underwhelmed with the door gun, especially the barrel. It wasn't straight, and it doesn't have any detail at all.

Does anyone have a good suggestion for a decent replacement for it? I believe the real thing is an M3M, but I'll take anything that looks like it. The kit barrel is 19mm long, if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

Pete,

There are two metal machine gun barrels that you can use for your project:

RB Model Aircraft Barrels (#48AB01) 1:48 - 0.5" AN/M2 Browning (2pcs)

Master Model (#48001) 1:48 Browning M2 Aircraft .50 Caliber (12.7mm) Barrels (2pcs)

There might be other barrels available but the above are what I am familiar with.

Those are really nice barrels but are missing the extended muzzle on them. The one the Lynx HMA8 uses has the extended muzzle. It is also the same muzzle on the ones the MH-60S uses.
