Great Navy Hornet (and others) Weathering Ref Shot

Recommended Posts

Great pictures.

Giving me so many ideas for my next E/F builds. I've noted the AIM-120's are being carried on the fuselage shoulder stations now. Think I also seen one being carried on one of the outer wing stations.

and finally....for those with the Academy 1/48 CH-53 in the stash that would love to build it but no room for it (love this weathering):

Ok, I know it's OT but since we've already gone there, I'll submit that there is nothing that beats this example of weathering, combined with creative use of fresh touch-up paint (note the Punisher Skull on the cargo door).  Taken a while back in Mosul, Iraq.

Differents notes about this photo:

- freshly repainted modex.

- fresh Dark ghost grey and ghost grey, and weathered counterparts.

- square and rectangular paint touchups

- bomb markings

- gun gas stains

- oily hands and fingers stains

- weathered 'til the primer antenna

Weathering everywhere!

And this pretty neat shot of an AIM-9 you don't see very often

Looks like this is actually the seeker of an Paveway III LGB - Perhaps a GBU-24?

Collin those are just great shots. Thanks for sharing. I especially like the LGB shot. I also thought it was interesting that the colour of the deck in your last shot is so light. I know it must be the sun. I believe the deck is sort of asphalt right? So I would assume it would be black but looks like not.
