What is that under the arm of the green shirt just aft of the stencil?
Is the lower aft portion of the bones a separate stencil and I'm seeing some clear film that's not flat against the stab?

You mean the line demarcation on the nose?

No, it's the typical "sunburn" caused by the AESA radar, it's a pretty useful sign to know if the a/c is AESA equiped or not.

Had no idea, that’s pretty cool.

Cheers

I completely lose tracks, too many CVW changes.

Seems the BK are still in the CVW-11:

Quote

GULF OF ALASKA (May 14, 2019) Sailors assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) stand next to an F/A-18F Super Hornet assigned to the “Black Knights” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 154 before beginning flight operations while participating in Exercise Northern Edge 2019.

So CVW-11:  USS Theodore Roosevelt.

Modex 1**: VFA-154

Modex 2**: VFA-31

Modex 3**:?

Modex 4**: VFA-87

Preparing for possible combat missions?

That D-Backs show bird is Sharp!

The paint scheme on an aircraft has absolutely nothing to do with it flying combat missions. If the aircraft is up, it drops bombs.

Yes, I realize that Dave , I just meant that maybe the Jolly Rogers' may have repainted their CAG jet in more subdued markings compared to the recent Anniversary markings due to possible combat ...

I read somewhere a few months ago that the Navy ordered all the CAG schemes toned down.
