Great Navy Hornet (and others) Weathering Ref Shot

Recommended Posts

Nice reference of a tanker configured aircraft.  Note different shades of drop tanks.

Man, Collin...you could make serious money publishing all these photos in a coffee-table type of photo-book. Your pictures are awesome!

Not my photos....they are the Navy's.  I'm just pushing them here to make it easier for modelers like us to find, plus it's a cool subject (heavily weathered Navy subjects seem to be popular).

Cheers

WOW - 5 tons of JDAM is a LOT to carry on one sortie! Looks like after years of 500 (or fewer) pounds per warhead, the campaign against ISIS (I'm presuming this is where these are going) is bringing the larger ordnance back - witness the GBU-31s seen on A-10s recently as well.

That settles it: VFA-213 motif for the Hasegawa F in my stash and this load out. Furball sheet on the way.

An Ordnancemans dream! Heavy load that doesn't come back to be downloaded after flight.

Feet and breeches, dishpan hands and the smell of rotten eggs! I've done it and I was in the radar shop!

One way to keep the sun out, for the back seater anyway:

The wings may be clean:

but the fuselage not so much:

note the two AIM-9s as part of the load, no doubt due to recent air to air threats.

The refueling probe doors are coming off.  Adds some color to your builds.
