Kurt H.
We have the Classic Kits and Star Trek GBs coming up in 2017. Both of these are good concepts. I will be participating in at least one of them. It is time to start thinking of Ideas for more GBs for the rest of the year. Any Ideas? I am pretty stumped for new ideas. I see some opportunities for some previously done GBs. I looked through many old GBs, and sadly I do not recognize many of the names, the participants are no longer active in the forums. So, those of us who are newer to ARC forums can have a go at some past themes: Tomcats .. Last done in 2009 and with the arrival of the Tamiya Tomcat, it seems like a great time Luftwaffe .. last done in 2010 Airfix Matchbox And maybe too soon, last done in 2013 ... Phantoms ... but it could be in commemoration of the last American phantoms. Any one with ideas? Let us discuss it!
phantom
The big thing is people. tobiK
So, the german airforce had its 60th anniversary this year. Why not honoring it with a GB? So all aircraft from 1955 until today wearing the iron cross. And yes, there are also Phantoms for Phantom.

You can do NMF, some yellow trainers, Norm 72 camo (grey - olive drab), Norm 83 (lizard), all grey for actual aircrafts, Norm 81 for the Phantom (5 colors for that camo!), Phigthers and choppers, props and jets...so many is possible! You can start with Sabre, Fouga Magister, T-6, Thunderstreak, F-104....up to the Eurofighter (UK: Typhoon) and ASTA Tornado. Many nice anniversary schemes and fly-out schemes, tiger-meet (just say one word: Tornados!), TAM, Recce meet,...Holloman Phantoms...T-37 and T-38 (even they have USAF markings, but are used to train german pilot students). AND...yaa...also the former NVA aircrafts in Luftwaffe livery: MIG-29, SU-22, Mil Mi 24, ...maybe one of the rare airforces having US and russian aircraft in service at the same time! I remember stories when two ships of MIG-29 and F-4F scared the hell out of USAF pilots during a red flag exercise many years ago... Well...so many reasons in my opinion. And one more reason: I still have some nice sponsored prices left over from the past HAF GB, I hope to get rid of it that way. And I am afraid that I can source some new nice prices again...(just hope to get some support from the GB admin or co-admin).
Crazy Snap Captain
TobiK, Luftwaffe sounds like a winner. This is one AF I have not built a kit for (apart from a 1/144 Tornado). Would love to break out my 1/48 Revell Tornado or even a Starfighter in one of the Marineflieger schemes (would that count?). Happy to join forces and co-mod with you again if you like... I agree, the Marine has some striking schemes, too! H-34, HU-16, seahawk, Fairey gannet, Seaking, F-104, Tornado, Westland Lynx, Hunting Pembroke... Who is a chopper-fanatic: most of them belonged to the Heer (now to Luftwaffe), so let's include the Heer (army), too. H-34, H-21, Alouette, Bo-105, UH-1D, CH-53, Tiger, NH-90, Hind (btw. I miss a nice modern kit in 1/48 for the Alouette II....) OK, Andrew, a great honour to have you on bord on that probably upcoming GB! Thanks phor the teaser: you can build all those Phantoms...there are decals available! OK, here is my teaser: the bronze tiger over one of our beautiful bavarian lakes, in the background mountains from the Alps.
phantom
Hmmmm, I have a 1/32 German F-4F(ish) in the stash.
Ichitoe
I'd be up for Luftwaffe and Marineflieger GB. The one GB I thoroughly enjoyed was The Bad Boys GB, so many schemes to choose from. Mike
Spectre711
I'm thinking of interceptors. I have a few Monogram 106s that I really want to build.
TheRealMrEd
Interceptors would be good, or how about Air Defense Command (ADC), Tactical Air Command (TAC), NATO before 1960, Naval Patrol Bombers (any era), or Experimental -- Never Put Into Service. That should bring out some interesting stuff... Ed
nspreitler
I enjoy the group builds. I've finished ones for the Recon and Strike GBs so far and may try to get one or two more in before those are over. I did the Test Birds, my own Eastern Front, Far East, Nightfighters, and Vietnam GBs. The only only I've started but haven't finished was the Big Kit, Small Scale. I'm certainly do the Classic Kits one, but would be in for an Interceptors or Tomcat build as well.
Kurt H.
Interceptors has great potential. With the new Trumpeter F-106, the new 1/72 f-102 and F-106 from Meng, as well as the good old Monogram f-106, F-102 and F-101b ... right there there are many great markings options. Go deeper and include the F-94, F-89 , and others I am not very familiar with, lots of great kits and markings to be had. I have always wanted to build a Massachusetts ANG F-106. And of course there is option to build several Phantoms which served in intercepter squadrons. Naval Patrol bombers is another great idea, Not a commonly built subject which does really deserve more attention. What are you thinking with Experimental, never put into service? Something like the F-20 ... built as though it were in service? Or something more extreme with concepts like the XFY-1 Pogo ?

Kingoalie
I would totally support the Luftwaffe and Marineflieger GB!
Kingoalie
April 9th would be the 50th anniversary of the 737's first flight. Although more civilian than military, there are a handful of 737 kits in 1/200th, 1/144th, and 1/72nd.

Pete
How about a twin prop GB. Lots of things to choose from. From the Vickers Vimy right up to the V-22 Osprey. From WW2 medium bombers to small civil planes, from Dakota's to An-140's and from night fighters to fire fighters.
Kurt H.
I got an Eduard "Bundesfighter" special edition F-104 in a black friday sale. I sure hope we do the modern Luftwaffe GB
TheRealMrEd
Hi Kurt, Both the F-20 and the Pogo would qualify. But, for example, possibly not a YF-102, because the F-102 WAS put into service -- of course, the YF was very different from the service model, so I suppose some decisions would have to be made. Come to think of it, where would an XF-88 fit in. The F-88 Voodoo was never put into service, but the F-101 Voodoo, it's offspring, certainly was! Ed
adamitri
How about a "Teen Theme?" 14,15,16,17,18,19 ?
