PhantomPhixer74
Just a question about a certain paint scheme I saw on an F-16 at Aviation Nation 2016. The scheme was a Gray, Black, White Splinter scheme. The Aircraft was red 83. I seem to recall that this was a scheme used up in Alaska. Just my imagination? I will try an post a couple of photos this weekend. Show was good. Thanks for your assistance!
tobiK
Maybe that Decal sheet can help, there is the red 80 in the so called arctic scheme, used in Eilson/Alaska (marking AK on the tail) and in Nellis (marking WA on the tail). PhantomPhixer74
tobiK Thanks, I looked at the photo and it has a WA on the vertical fin. Not used to seeing that scheme at Nellis. They are usually the Blue , Gray, White or the Tan, Brown scheme. Thanks for the info
Camus272
The scheme started with the 18th in Alaska. In 2012 they started adding it at Nellis (first on 86-273). As Shaggy of the 64th explained it to me, the mountains around Vegas have snow on them, for 6 months out of the year, making it still an effective scheme there.
