T-34/85 Dragon 1/72

Recommended Posts

I'm busy moving at the moment and thus busy emptying my house. I came across this project, that was put away on the shelf of doom because I cut away the fenders and the replacements didn't fit

and just for fun:

I've started drilling out the wheels:

added some texture on the cupola:

weld and castmarks are streched sprue, structure is made with Mr surfacer and a sponge.. first you rub it open, and while it drys you pull with the sponge so that you get hairs. a slight rubbing with a sanding paper removes the edges

and then decided to replace the handles with copperwire

on the hull I followed the same priciple, but with a brush and tamiya thin cement to make the rolled plate structure:

and later also these handles were replaced:

then some really small parts:

and after folding:

I've made a few boxes:

changed the grille a bit

and came to the conclusion that the wrong wheels were provided in the kit (half spiders instead of full spiders) so I've made a new combination:

Thx to a Revell kit, goodbye drilled holes...

Now the fenders are removed, the PE replacements are to short... bummer, need to figure out how to lengthen these..

In the meantime I've started assembling the tracks... +/-80 per side...

A lot of small parts to assemble...

It tester the tension on the tracks, and it was to little or to much, so I removed the tensioning wheel:

Making those tracks and detailing them with those "teeth" must have been a project of its own.

I've built this (actually the short barrel version) once and it looked very nice. Yours will be even better for sure!

Thx Murad, these tracks went faster then I've thought. I think I assembled these completely in approx. 12h.
