Cobrahistorian
Hey all, So I've got the Revellogram 1:48 AC-47 kit and I'd like to do it as a WWII C-53. Are there any aftermarket sources for the troop seats? Thanks! Jon
Cubs2jets
Well, the first problem you have is that you have the wrong kit for what you want to do. The C-53 was built with a DC-3 airliner standard passenger door, not the C-47 cargo door. The "standard" Revellogram C-47 comes with troop seats. I am 100% positive that the C-47 floor will fit right into the DC-3 fuselage. If you can come up with a DC-3 kit, I'll gladly send you the troop seats. I look forward to your build. Cobrahistorian
Thanks! To be honest, I'm not sure if it's a C-47 or a C-53, but "Dorice II" was in the 309th Troop Carrier Squadron. It's namesake "Dorice", was C-47A 42-93064, so it could be either.
Rich in name only
C-47s are C-47s. C-53s are C-53s. So Dorice should be built from a C-47 kit. Like Cubs2Jets says, C-53s had what looked like a DC-3 passenger door (modified for removal/opening for troop jumps. There were other significant differences but what is visible are small details.
